September 2026 Commander’s Message
Wow! September is here already!
As we begin the month of September, let us remember Morell Smith, who was born on September 3, 1888. This month marks the 138th anniversary of his birth.
Now that Summer is coming to a close, vacations are slowing down as are weekends at the shore. If you are wondering what can fill that void, come to our meetings and our social events. See the list of upcoming activities below.
The Sons of the American Legion, Squadron 440 held a "Cigars Under the Stars" this past week outside at the Post. It was well attended and we had a really great time. Thanks to all those Post and Squadron members that attended. This was a win and we will definitely do it again. We even had a firepit and cooked hot dogs on the fire. We actually had several people attend that saw our posts on Facebook, and are looking forward to joining our Post and Squadron as a result.
You should have received our 20/20 fundraiser mailer. Please send in your filled out tickets and payments. These 20/20 drawings are one of our main fundraisers for our Post.
We have our Post US 250th Challenge Coins available. Please see me at one of our meetings to purchase. Coins are $20 each. They came out very nice and the proceeds will benefit our Post.
Upcoming Activities
- 9/1/26-@7pm Exec Meeting. All members are welcome to attend.
- 9/14/26-SAL "Monday Night Football "kickoff"! $20 for Pizza and beer, will be held every MNF game for this year downstairs at our Post.
- 9/15/26-General Membership Meeting. Dinner will be served @5pm. Our District Commander, Jack Pashley, will be swearing in our Post Officers.
- 9/16/26-@7pm-Son's of the American Legion Meeting.
- 9/24/26-@6pm-Squadron 440 Game Night. Phillie's game and Flyers on TV Downstairs.
