July 2026 Commander’s Message

Welcome to July – A Special Independence Day

It’s hard to believe we’re already halfway through the year. This Independence Day carries extra meaning as our nation celebrates its 250th birthday. I hope you all have a safe, joyful, and meaningful holiday with family and friends. Take time to celebrate our country’s freedoms and stay cool in the summer heat.

I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for our Open House and the Morell Smith Avenue naming ceremony. The event was very well attended by members, guests, and dignitaries alike. It was especially moving to once again honor Morell Smith’s service and sacrifice by renaming the street in his memory. Events like this help keep his legacy alive in our Newtown and Veteran communities.

I’d also like to thank Rob Boysen for organizing our outstanding Battleship New Jersey tour. What an impressive ship with such rich history! I’m already looking forward to more events like this in the coming months.

With summer in full swing, our activity schedule has slowed down a bit. Please note that I will be away and will miss our upcoming Executive Committee and General Membership meetings. I’m confident the team will handle everything smoothly in my absence.

Our Post’s second 20/20 fundraiser is about to kick off. Keep your eyes open for this important fundraiser.

We also have our USA 250th Post challenge coin available. This is also a fundraiser at $20 per coin. Please consider purchasing a few and sell them to your friends and family.
