April 2026 Commander’s Message

Fellow Post 440 members,

Welcome to April.

Spring is here and April is full of Post activities. Come out, socialize and bring guest potential new members.

Sons Squadron 440 has started Memorial Day Parade planning. Please clear your calendars and come out and represent the Post in honoring those that have served and were lost. Our Post honor guard has held practice last week and is always looking for potential new members. It’s increasingly hard to muster a team for funerals etc in our area. Let Jules Ferraro ferraro.jules@gmail.com or myself know if you are interested.

Reminder, our Post General Membership and exec meetings are starting at 7pm starting this month with dinner starting at 6pm prior to General Membership meeting.

04-04-26 – 530pm March Madness Final Four watch party for Post and Squadron members and potential members

04-07-26 7pm Executive Committee Meeting

04-08-26 – 7pm Newtown Township Board of Supervisors to vote on ceremonially renaming of Linden Ave. to “Morell Smith Ave.” a couple members in support at the meeting would be appreciated

04-09-26 6pm Post and Squadron Game Night - Bring potential new members

04-10-26 11am to 1pm Veterans Expo ant Northampton Valley Country Club – Post volunteers requested

04-15-26 – 7pm Sons of The American Legion Squadron 440 member meeting downstairs

04-21-26 General Membership Meeting/Dinner/Presentation scam avoidance upstairs

May TBD spring Post 440 trip to visit Battleship NJ in Camden

05-25-26 Memorial Day Parade

06-13-26 Post 440 “Open House” BBQ celebration of flag day and USA 250^th. Friends, Family & community welcome. POSSIBLE ceremony re-naming Linden Ave. to Morell Smith Ave.
